Bianca Chiara

Bianca Chiara, MD

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE AND PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN

Dr. Bianca Chiara is a board-certified family medicine physician and certified functional medicine practitioner. She completed her entire education, pre-K through medical residency, in her home state of New Jersey. Raised by a father who is a chiropractor, she was exposed to integrative healthcare practices at a young age. Her mother, who cooked three meals a day from scratch and ran an organic co-op out of their home, taught the family about the importance of nutrition and “food as medicine.”

In shifting from the traditional disease model of medicine to a wellness-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. As a functional medicine practitioner, Dr. Chiara spends time with her patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and chronic disease. In this way, Dr. Chiara‘s functional medicine approach supports the unique expression of health and vitality of each individual.

IN DR. CHIARA’S WORDS

Why is functional medicine part of your approach?

“As I started my private practice, I realized my conventional medical training left me feeling void of the ability to truly help those with chronic illness and provide substantial preventative health strategies. In 2010 I started my journey with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). I knew very quickly that I had found my path to answer the questions my traditional training had failed to address.”

Why PALM Health?

Dr. Chiara had been working in her private practice in New Jersey for over a decade before deciding to join PALM Health. “The seamless integration of functional medicine with primary care that PALM provides in a patient-centered, interdisciplinary setting is truly unique and exactly how I envision my ideal practice. I strongly believe in the patient-practitioner partnership and the equal responsibility of both parties in the pursuit of health.”
